The Competition
The competition is open to professional organists or organ students born after 31 December 1990. An expert jury will select twelve candidates out of all applications, based on audio recordings submitted by the applicants. The twelve selected candidates are invited to come to Groningen where they will enter in a week-long organ competition.
Four rounds
The competition of the IMOCG consists of four rounds. After a preliminary selection on the basis of an audio recording, three public rounds will take place on the organs in Appingedam and in the Akerk and Martinikerk in Groningen.
Six candidates are to proceed to Round 2, the semi-finals, in which they will play the Schnitger-organ in the Akerk in Groningen. The three best semi-finalists proceed to the finale in the Martinikerk, where the winner of the IMOCG 2024 is determined by an international jury.
