Organ excursion with Theo Jellema
By tour bus, the group will travel to three monumental organs in the border region of Groningen and Friesland. The well-known organist Theo Jellema will talk about the historical context of the organs, about the organ builders and the architecture and sound of the instruments. The organs visited and listened to in this excursion are:
- The Snitger-Freytag organ in Zuidhorn
- The Van Dam-organ in Buitenpost
- The Van Dam-organ in Engwierum
The excursion is themed is “tradition in a century of innovation”: how did organ builders hold on to their own personal style at a time when factory-built construction was becoming more and more fashionable.
The excursion includes an elaborate lunch at Herberg Foestrum in Westergeast.
